Title generation

Organization owners and admins control how Steinkauz AI creates conversation titles for new chats. Open Settings → Title generation while the relevant organization is active.

Modes

  • Off: New conversations keep the default “New Conversation” title and emoji. No automatic title inference runs.
  • Same as chat: Titles use the same provider and model as the user’s chat turn. This is the default when nothing has been configured yet.
  • Dedicated: Titles use a specific provider and model from your organization’s catalog (for example a cheaper or faster model).

Only owners and admins can change this setting.

Configuration Audit

Changes to Title generation policy appear in Settings → Configuration Audit (and as five recent events on the Title generation page). See Configuration Audit.

Invalid dedicated targets

If a dedicated provider or model is later disabled or removed, title generation soft-fails: the conversation keeps the default title, chat continues normally, and Settings shows a warning until you update the policy. Steinkauz AI does not silently fall back to another model.
