Create & manage an organization

Organizations let a group collaborate under one workspace while keeping individual conversations private. This page covers creating an organization, inviting members, and day-to-day management.

Create an organization

  1. Open Settings from the main navigation, then Organizations.
  2. Enter an organization name and create it.
  3. You become the owner of the new organization.

Creating an organization does not start billing. You can invite members first and subscribe when the organization is ready. See Organization billing & seats.

Invite members

From Settings → Organizations → [your organization]:

  1. Enter the invitee’s email address.
  2. Choose a role: Member, Admin, or Owner (see Members, roles & invites).
  3. Choose whether the invite includes a billable seat (on by default for new invites).
  4. Send the invite.

Invitees receive an email with a link. They sign in (or create a Steinkauz account) and accept the invite to join the organization.

Accept an invite

If you receive an organization invite:

  1. Open the link in the email.
  2. Sign in to Steinkauz if you are not already.
  3. Accept the invite to join the organization.

After accepting, the organization appears in your organization switcher. Switch to it to work in that workspace.

Switch between contexts

Use the organization switcher in the main navigation:

  • Personal — your Individual context
  • Organizations — any organizations you belong to

When you switch, the app reloads context for the active organization (or Personal): conversations, settings, usage, and entitlements all follow the selection.

Manage an existing organization

Organization owners and admins can manage members and pending invites from Settings → Organizations → [organization name]:

  • View current members and their roles
  • Change roles or remove members (within permission rules)
  • Toggle billable seats for members (owners only)
  • Revoke pending invites

Organization deletion is not available in the current release. Contact support if you need to retire an organization.

Private conversations in organizations

Conversations in an organization belong to the member who created them. Other members — including owners and admins — do not see your chat history in the sidebar.

Owners and admins oversee the organization through Usage & Activity (costs and inference metadata; owners can also inspect content). Regular members cannot browse each other’s chats or usage.

To share a specific thread with someone outside Steinkauz, use Conversation sharing.
